Coping with work stress.

With a modern way of life work stress has become something normal. We have lots of tasks, deadlines, projects etc, and we are so caught up with all that is happening, that we do not even notice that we are stressed. Somehow we ignore the fact that sometimes we just have too much on our plate, and we are too stressed. We ignore the symptoms and believe that they will just go away, but unfortunately it is not true.

The pressure in our society is huge nowadays, we are supposed to be everything and everywhere: we need to work, study, go to gym, have family, have hobbies etc. And then, when it comes to work, the load of it and the deadlines are giving the constant pressure on us, and I notice how harsh we can be on ourselves for not being perfect, for not being able to do everything.

What to do to ease the stress:

  1. Let it go! Just let it go, it’s difficult, but once you reach the point, when you are ready to let go all of your worries, you will find peace and balance. We can’t do it all, no one can. We are all humans and no one is perfect.
  2.  Be honest with your boss. If you have too much to do at work- say it! Say it out loud to your boss, explain the situation with reasonable arguments. I do believe that if we explain everything, our boss will understand or at least try to understand, and even though he(she) might not lower the amount of work immediately, but maybe  he (she) will think if they should reconsider the resource allocation.
  3. Open up to your family/friends. They might not understated exactly your situation, but the words of support are the best cure for stress. And just acknowledging the problem will help you to cope with stress. If we keep storing all negative emotions we have from work stress inside, it will have negative consequence on our lives and health.

You can find an interesting article on how stress affects our health by HealthLine https://www.healthline.com/health/stress/effects-on-body#1 , so the range of diseases and symptoms we might get from stress varies from simple headaches to insomnia and risk of heart attack.

Constant stress is not a normal state of our body and mind, so if you feel stressed, do not neglect it, seek for help and find a way to reach balance in order to have a happy and healthy life.

May the force be with you!

Cheers
